One of the innovations introduced by the new Apple operating system iOS 7 is Airdrop, a file transfer system introduced in 2011 with the release of OS X Lion.

It allows you to share photos, videos, contacts and other files without the need of a wireless network, it only works with other Apple devices, let’s see how it works.

Airdrop is usable on iPhone 5s,  iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPad mini or iPod touch 5, if you own one of the devices listed you can see a guide that will help you to take advantage of this feature to share photos, videos and more.

1) To start using Airdrop is very simple: from the home screen you must open the Control Center by making a slide upward from the tab at the bottom.

2) You will find the “Airdrop” just below or beside the controls of the music player depending on your device.

3) Click and you can choose which option you want to set with regard to the visibility of the device: “contacts only”,”everyone” or “off”.

4) To send just click on the share button and choose what to send to another user.

5) Now you will be redirected to the screen dedicated to sharing files, where you can see the users connected with Airdrop, so as to send them any files you want.

Airdrop for iPhone and other iDevices with iOS 7 is therefore a very simple process that allows you to send files to your friends quickly and directly, without recourse to external services or applications.
